How We Repair A Leaking Roof Drain

  1. Locate Damage

The first step to repairing a roof drain is by locating the damage. Once we’ve located the damage, we carefully examine the entire area of the roof drain. This is important as it helps us be aware of the extent of the problem. Examining the roof drain also helps us determine the type of material the guttering is made from and know what type to use if a replacement is needed.

  2. Making Repairs

Damages made on the roof drain in most cases are commonly less severe which do not need replacements. But if the extent of the damage is very severe, we opt for replacements rather than making repairs.

For our team to make repairs, they need to clean and get rid of any existing debris. Once the area has been cleaned, we dry it thoroughly. Next, we prepare the surface by smoothening it with coarse sandpaper. Once that is done, we spread the roofing cement over the hole in the roof drain and let it dry.

In scenarios where massive damage is done, a replacement of the whole roof drain is needed. For us to do this, we still need to wash and clean the area. We then carefully pull the damaged area out. Before fitting in the new piece of a roof drain, we apply beads of caulk to one of the ends of the replacement areas. The new piece needs to perfectly fit in before we tighten any fixtures that seal the roof drain.
